The education system welcomes overseas candidates wishing to migrate permanently to NZ, and also those coming to New Zealand for short term stays where they have the appropriate work permit.

To support teachers who have qualifications that are in short supply, the Ministry of Education offers incentives for overseas trained teachers and for overseas based NZ trained teachers depending on qualifications and subject specialism.
