NZ Trained Returning Teachers
The international relocation allowance has been increased to NZ$5000 for returning Kiwi-trained school teachers.
Whether you’ve been away for a number of years and want to find out about developments in your teaching field, or are ready to jump right into a job search, TRS can assist.
The International Relocation Grant is an incentive to attract New Zealand trained teachers living overseas to teaching positions in New Zealand.
If you are a New Zealand trained, registered teacher returning to New Zealand and you have been out of New Zealand for at least 20 school weeks (two school terms) prior to your arrival here, you may be eligible for an International Relocation Grant.
The level of grant paid depends on your term of employment:
• $2,500 where your term of employment is for at least six weeks but less than two school terms;
• $5,000 where your term of employment is for two school terms or more.
If you do not complete the minimum period of employment under this scheme you may be required to reimburse the grant.
This grant must be applied for through your Principal within eight weeks of commencing employment.
To see if you meet all of the eligibility requirements of this grant, check out the International Relocation Grant application form via the Ministry of Education's website at www.minedu.govt.nz/goto/resourcingforms.
